Join me, Didem Mert (she/they), to learn how to take drawings and found imagery to create stencils from paper and vinyl. Stencils will be made using scissors and paper as well as a Silhouette machine. I will also screen share during this workshop to show y’all how I clean up drawings and found imagery and place those within a program to make the Silhouette machine cut stencils and do it’s job! I will also discuss glazes and other surfacing materials in conjunction to using stencils.

• 9:05 AM: Meet n’ greet

• 9:15 AM: Let’s talk stencils- show examples & discuss what works & what to watch out for

• 9:30 AM: Screen sharing- show how I take a drawing and clean it up in the computer then use the Silhouette machine to cut out a stencil from vinyl!

• 10 AM: 10 minute break (grab a snack, drink, or go outside in the sun!)

• 10:10 AM: Begin cutting paper stencils.

• 10:30 AM: Use paper stencils to decorate leather hard pottery- discuss surface as well.

• 10:40 AM: Use vinyl stencils to decorate bisque fired pottery- discuss surface as well.
